In honor of this week's healthy-initiative t-shirt design, "looking good-feeling good!" let's learn about how to achieve these goals through diet and exercise:

Self-care is a personal choice in health maintenance; it is the extent to which an individual, family or community engages in any activity with the intention of improving health, preventing disease, managing conditions, and restoring health.

Encompassing a broad spectrum of behavior, self-care includes all health decisions consumers make for themselves and their families to maintain a good level of physical and mental health. These include maintaining physical fitness and good health to preventing disease or managing conditions, using self-medication to treat and prevent illness, and managing one’s health after discharge from tertiary health care.

Generally, a healthy diet will include:

1. Sufficient calories to maintain a person's metabolic and activity needs, but not so excessive as to result in fat storage greater than roughly 12% of body mass;

2. Sufficient quantities of fat, including monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat and saturated fat, with a balance of omega-6 and long-chain omega-3 lipids;

3. Avoidance of trans-fat;

4. Sufficient essential amino acids ("complete protein") to provide cellular replenishment and transport proteins;

5. Essential micronutrients such as vitamins and certain minerals;

6. Avoiding directly poisonous (e.g. heavy metals) and carcinogenic (e.g. benzene) substances;

7. Avoiding foods contaminated by human pathogens (e.g. e. coli, tapeworm eggs);

8. Avoiding chronic high doses of certain foods that are benign or beneficial in small or occasional doses, such as:

* foods or substances with directly toxic properties at high chronic doses (e.g. ethyl alcohol);
* foods that may interfere at high doses with other body processes (e.g. table salt);
* foods that may burden or exhaust normal functions (e.g. refined carbohydrates without adequate dietary fiber).

Achieving a healthy diet is popularly misperceived as being attainable by eating 'healthy foods'. Many people falsely believe that there are 'good' and 'bad' foods; they develop bad diets because they think that abundant eating of foods they consider 'healthy' will create a healthy diet. However, this is far from the truth.

The consumption of nothing but substances that are deemed healthy, such as an "all-grain diet" or a diet consisting only of pasta or other health-foods, would most likely result in deficiencies because important nutrients (like protein-based foods) would be missed. Foods such as grains, fish, corn, etc. are healthy when consumed with a balanced diet, because in combination they supply us with all of the required nutrients. The most important aspect of any diet is maintaining a healthy intake and balance of foods.

The balance of micronutrients gained from meat, vegetables, and other foods is what makes diets healthy, not only consuming 'healthy' foods. For instance, milk, cheese, and other dairy products are known to have a relatively high fat content. Removing such dairy products from a diet may lower fat ingestion, but it will also negatively affect the intake of calcium and riboflavin that such foods offer.

Diet itself helps to increase calorie burning by boosting metabolism, a process further enhanced while gaining more lean muscle. An aerobic exercise program can burn fat and increase the metabolic rate.

General fitness training works towards broad goals of overall health and well-being, rather than narrow goals of sport competition, larger muscles or concerns over appearance. A regular moderate workout regimen and healthy diet can improve general appearance markers of good health such as muscle tone, healthy skin, hair and nails, while preventing age or lifestyle-related reductions in health and the series of heart and organ failures that accompany inactivity and poor diet.

Physical exercise is important for maintaining physical fitness and can contribute positively to maintaining a healthy weight; building and maintaining healthy bone density, muscle strength, and joint mobility; promoting physiological well-being; reducing surgical risks; and strengthening the immune system.

Frequent and regular aerobic exercise has been shown to help prevent or treat serious and life-threatening chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, insomnia, and depression. Strength training appears to have continuous energy-burning effects that persist for about 24 hours after the training, though they do not offer the same cardiovascular benefits of aerobic exercises. Exercise can also increase energy and raise one's threshold for pain.

There is conflicting evidence as to whether vigorous exercise (more than 70% of VO2 Max) is more or less beneficial than moderate exercise (40 to 70% of VO2 Max). Some studies have shown that vigorous exercise executed by healthy individuals can effectively increase opioid peptides (aka endorphins, a naturally occurring opiate that in conjunction with other neurotransmitters is responsible for exercise induced euphoria and has been shown to be addictive), positively influence hormone production (i.e., increase testosterone and growth hormone) benefits that are not as fully realized with moderate exercise.

Exercise has been shown to improve cognitive functioning via improvement of hippocampus-dependent spatial learning, and enhancement of synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis. In addition, physical activity has been shown to be neuroprotective in many neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases. Physical activity is thought to have other beneficial effects related to cognition as it increases levels of nerve growth factors, which support the survival and growth of a number of neuronal cells.

Both aerobic and anaerobic exercise also work to increase the mechanical efficiency of the heart by increasing cardiac volume (aerobic exercise), or myocardial thickness (strength training, see Organ hypertrophy).

It is a common belief that exercise and training a particular body part will preferentially shed the fat on that part; for example, that doing sit-ups is the most direct way to reduce subcutaneous belly fat. This is false: one cannot reduce fat from one area of the body to the exclusion of others. Most of the energy derived from fat gets to the muscle through the bloodstream and reduces stored fat in the entire body, from the last place where fat was deposited. Sit-ups may improve the size and shape of abdominal muscles but will not specifically target belly fat for loss. Such exercise might help reduce overall body fat and shrink the size of fat cells.

Become a Mobile Cellphone Free Zone

Several studies carried out at the Accident Research Unit at the University of Nottingham have warned of the dangers posed by diving whilst talking on a mobile phone. As these studies deal with the effect of increased attentional load on driving performance, they also apply to hands-free phones, which are considered by some countries to be safe. The major problem is that the person with whom the driver is conversing cannot see the traffic situation and therefore does not regulate their level of conversation to allow the driver to concentrate when, say, approaching a junction.

Research indicates that using a cell phone while driving is as dangerous as driving while intoxicated and cell phone use while driving is far more prevalent than drunk-driving Talking and driving at the same time lowers the driver's reflexes, rendering them unable to avoid other drivers.

A study carried out by the University of Utah found that driving while using a mobile phone is "at least as dangerous as driving while over the legal alcohol limit". They also found that hands-free devices do not reduce the distraction caused by talking on a mobile phone. According to a study published in the British Medical Journal and paid for by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, there was only a slight safety benefit from using a hands-free phone. The study showed that drivers who use cell phones, even hands-free models, are four times as likely to be involved in wrecks involving a serious injury than are drivers who do not use cell phones.

An experiment conducted by the American television show MythBusters concluded that use of mobile phones while driving poses the same risk as someone operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Mobile phone etiquette has become an important issue with mobiles ringing at funerals, weddings, cinemas, and plays. Users often speak at increased volume which has led to places like book shops, libraries, movie theatres, doctors' offices, and houses of worship posting signs prohibiting the use of mobile phones, and in some places installing signal-jamming equipment to prevent usage (although in many countries, e.g., the United States, such equipment is currently illegal). Some new buildings such as auditoriums have installed wire mesh in the walls (turning the building into a Faraday cage) which prevents any signal getting through, but does not contravene the jamming laws.

Transportation providers, particularly those involving long-distance services, often offer a "quiet car" where phone use is prohibited, much like the designated non-smoking cars in the past. However many users tend to ignore this as it is rarely enforced, especially if the other cars are crowded and they have no choice but to go in the "quiet car". Mobile phone use on aircraft is also prohibited, because of concerns of possible interference with aircraft radio communications,although the airline Emirates have announced plans to allow limited mobile phone usage on some flights. In a similar vein signs are put up in UK petrol stations prohibiting the use of mobile phones due to hypothetical safety issues. Most schools in the United States have prohibited mobile phones in the classroom due to the high amount of class disruptions that result from their use, and due to the possibility of photographing someone (without consent).

Fight against inappropriate cellphone use by becoming a walking cellphone free zone. Several options available including an "Are you driving or talking!?" bumper sticker, "DRIVE SMART-keep your head on the road" bumpersticker, "cellphone free zone" mug, sticker and magnet (perfect for the workplace).

You Could Learn a Lot From...a Lot of Stuff

Those of you who subscribe to our weekly newsletter may recall that last week we had a little trouble with the concept of daylight savings and the immutable nature of time. Although we were positive that we wouldn't be able to travel back in time, an earlier article (probably published in advance of the other to prove their success) argues that it is possible to travel back in time.

Of course we got our Scientificologists working on the problem right away, as we didn't want to have a repeat of last week's issues. After a few missteps and mistakes, they finally figured out a way to warp the time continuum enough to put us back on the regular schedule.

In the process, though, their time-traveling escapades brought them back two weeks ago, instead of one, to when we debuted our Read t-shirts not books and Read books not t-shirts designs. Whoops!

Their mistake led to our good fortune as they realized that we missed the boat when we attached a third, unrelated design to those two: make slogans not war.

Instead of changing the topicality, we really should have attached this week's design, the "you could learn a lot from..." series. Although we at 52tease.com always extol the virtues of our t-shirts, and honestly feel there is no better medium by which to convey a message, this week's design came from the oft-underloved bumper sticker.

It is a wonder that we can behold the sum of all the world's knowledge on the bumper stickers of other cars while driving to the corner, town, across the state or even across the country. Why bother going to school once you realize that you could learn a lot from a bumpersticker, a baby, a dog, or even a coffee mug?

The Scientificologists, in their wisdom, did not try to erase our make slogans design from history, possibly causing a timequake the ramifications of which they couldn't predict. We're happy, in deference to the time gods and linearity, to debut this related design two weeks later than the ideal...at the possible expense of being scoffed at by you, our lovely, intelligent, special (crossed-fingers, hoping you respond to flattery) loyal readers and fans.

Enjoy the new designs and look for wisdom under every rock (and on every adorned bumper).

Quick! Look Over There!

For reasons that should be obvious by looking at the picture on the left, we're not really at liberty to talk to much about this week's design. In fact, we've been practicing the art of becoming invisible around the office lately (nice segue, isn't it?). We started off with your typical office camouflage (boy was that fun!). You know, staple some lined paper to your forehead and stuff like that.

Nothing quite like jumping out of a closet with a piece of lined paper stapled to your forehead to help remind your workmates to relax and enjoy one another's company.

After that initial shock, everyone got into the invisibility game and we had to up the ante a little. We've learned to hide without hiding through the art of attention-transference. The crafty individuals upon who our most recent design is based have taught us the art of being invisible in plain view.

We're using those techniques right now, on you...it's like a Vulcan mind trick. Just don't let us near your collar bone.

We've noticed a trend lately, on the blog, of focusing the text entirely too much on our newest design. Sure, our copy is still damn interesting and our insights into Scientificology and the Intersphere are world renowned, but we need to "Kick it up a notch!"

That's why we're going to use those spare days during the week to introduce you to parts of the Intersphere heretowith probably undiscovered by your searching mind. We don't propose to bring you the hottest links, most breaking news or the next big thing. We just want to share with you the things that make us laugh, think, or that we just didn't know about the Intersphere each dawning week.

If you want to keep up with our weekly links, it might not be a bad idea to subscribe to our RSS feed as most of these timely lovelies aren't going to make it into the newsletter. (Huh? RSS feed?)

He Pitches for a Different Team...

Can somebody please explain to us where that term came from? We don't quite get it (in fact, we aren't totally sure that's the real saying; we've been so busy selling our Election 2006 Reboot t-shirts after the massive voting machine meltdowns -what, you haven't read about Florida's 13th district?- and the unexpected GOP sweep of both the House and the Senate -what, you haven't heard about...wait a second, the Dems actually took control of Congress. Rock on! - that we couldn't put our esteemed scientificologists to work finding out where that saying originates). Seriously, we'd love to hear your explanation about where the term, "He pitches for the other team" (or whatever the actual saying is), comes from. Thanks.

You may have heard, recently, when famous people get divorced (like Britney and K-fed are planning) people are proud to show who they side with in the breakup (of these people who they don't know personally, mind you) in shirt form. Man, we always say we're for freedom of t-shirt expression.

We completely understand why people want to broadcast their team affiliation. It makes it that much easier to make friends (or enemies), right? We've even found a Team Fan Club T-shirt shop with just about any men's or women's name you could think of (well, at least a whole bunch of generic and popular names).

We are often very surprised, though, by what we don't find in the marketplace. Why hasn't anyone made the now classic Team Gay product? And, if they do exist, why aren't you advertising it better?

Well, I guess that's why 52tease.com is here. We exist to give voice to the little guy, to represent the unloved, mistreated and rejected.

Who are we kidding? We represent our own views and the views of the much understudied and misunderstood subculture of scientificologists who exist in the world. We are supported by those who happen to agree with us one time or another.

If we've helped give voice to your needs, you're welcome. If we haven't, come back next week and see if we don't hit a little closer to the target.

Okay, we know what you're thinking. "52tease.com has obviously lost that special spark that made them stand out of the crowded t-shirt market. Just look at them; they have to make t-shirts based on used-up has-been MCs of the eighties. Don't they realize that MC Hammer has, finally, settled into obscurity after his brief stint as a tech school mascot? How sad. How very, very sad."

See, we know what you think. We just don't care. Quit bein' such haters fools!

To us, this shirt is mad funny. Think about it. Can't touch this! That's hilarious. You think that you are so hot that you have to write it across your shirt. That's just freakin' awesome. To those of you who think you are the hottest thing on the planet, we salute you

T-shirts Can Talk to Us

(guess what) We're Getting Naked on April 5th

We're stripping off all our beautiful, fun CSS in honor of CSS Naked Day. Don't worry, 52tease.com will be back to normal this Thursday, April 6th.

Why is it that every t-shirt we wear is really for other people? Literally, the t-shirts that we choose to clothe ourselves in 'speak' to those around us while we don't get the benefit of the joke. Sure, they have those t-shirts that have writing written in reverse so it only makes sense to a person who looks in a mirror, but then you have to have a mirror around in order to appreciate your own joke. (for an example, check out this why are you always staring at me t-shirt)

Who makes shirts that truly speak to the wearer, though? We sent out scientificologists on an around the world quest to find such shirts, and they came up empty-handed. (okay, to be honest, we just sent them to the local mall...where they got a Slurpee and not much more...but they made it clear that we couldn't get them to go much farther...darn they're gettin' lazy!) We knew then that 52tease.com had to fill the gap with inane shirts that truly speak to you...the wearer.

Imagine if you will (come on kids, put on your 'imagination hats') that you're wearing one of our don't waste your time t-shirts and someone walks up to you to ask, "Why are you wearing a shirt with upside down writing?"

What are you going to do? Well, if you were one of the 52tease.com crew, you'd just look down at your shirt, nod your head up and down a few times (in agreement with the infinite wisdom of your shirt) and keep on walking. Would they get the joke? Maybe. Will you have a good time? Absolutely!

Remember too, that this is just one design. We can add any sort of personality to your shirt that you would like. You don't like sarcastic t-shirts? We understand completely. We wouldn't like the cocky bastards if they hadn't formed a symbiotic relationship with us...trust me.

If you haven't noticed lately, we've certainly been feeling the effects of a long winter (was it even a long winter? I remember a few bouts of snow and some very cold weeks, but it doesn't seem like this winter was especially bad. Certainly, it wasn't as mild as previous winters, but it was still reasonable.) and we're starting to get cabin fever at the 52tease.com corporate office.

How would one notice this, you ask? Well, just take a look at our last few t-shirt designs and you can see that our most recent shirts have fallen under the "absurd" and words category. Recently we brought you our cleverlogo t-shirts and just last week we came out with the doozy, I hope they don't eat me for any of the paranoid delusionals we count among our clientele.

This week we are continuing our absurd humor slant with another text-based design, "I'm not wearing a shirt". To be honest, I'm not sure I even understand exactly what we're trying to convey here. Is this the ultimate in post-modern irony? Are we just trying to figure out another way to write topless and nude on our blog? (if the marketing guys are responsible for this design, than that is more than likely) ---to be honest, I'm pretty sure the idea for these shirts came from a young man with "shoe" written on both his shoes in indelible ink. He mentioned that it probably would have been smarter to write "left shoe" on the left and "right shoe" on the right, so the writing was at least useful, but he couldn't be bothered...

Who cares what it means! If it's fun for you and makes you laugh, than you don't have to understand it. Sometimes the best humor is that which makes the least sense.

So, go out there and buy a shirt that says, "I'm not wearing a shirt" and come back to the blog to leave some comments about all the stares, questions, and weird looks you got when you wore your original (and slightly insane) 52tease.com t-shirt.

A Wise And Phagophobic Sherpa Once Said...

Phagophobia- Fear of swallowing or of eating or of being eaten.

In case you're wondering why the 52tease team has been rather spotty in recent communications, we feel compelled to inform you that we weren't on vacation, no, nor were we 'slacking off' (as you kids call it these days). We were trekking to the highest parts of the Himalayas in the care of our inveterate life-guide, Johnny Pangboche (we kid you not, he has always gone by 'Johnny' as long as we've known him. Everyone calls him 'Johnny', even his mom and dad when they were alive. They didn't speak any English, but Johnny always claimed that his parents just "grabbed the name out of the air"; and a star was born).

Sadly, and the reason for dodgy communication schedule (but only the communication. If you check 52tease.com, you will see that we've added a new design every week. Also, we've been keeping in more regular communication with our newsletter recipients; including a recent coupon for $10 off any purchase over $25 on all Cafepress.com products), is the recent death of our guru and apparently ultra-paranoid phagophobic. The funeral celebration of his life, which happened to end in our presence (by no means of ours; how could we conceive of even hurting our own father), required our presence at the top of several rather large peaks and other very deep valleys.

It was a celebration of the way Johnny P. lived his life.

We're not here to talk about the funeral. We're here to share Johnny's last seed of wisdom. His final words. We know, without a doubt, he wanted us to share them with you on t-shirts for other paranoid phagophobes. They have to know they're not alone (that's not what he said, though, before his final words. Johnny's second-to-last words were, "You...you...better put my final words on a t-shirt. These are my gift to you. Pearls from the worm...". At that point, we thought he said his final words and we were ready to put "pearls from the worm" on a t-shirt. We would have done anything for that man. But then he gathered strength again. A body reanimated from the dead and said,

I hope they don't eat me

and then he expired...

and we were left with the husk of Johnny's body to carry back down the mountain and a command to make shirts that would identify the truly paranoid of the world. T-shirts that might even make another paranoid soul feel proud.

Johnny,

We will carry the torch. Your wisdom will be passed on...in t-shirt form.

PS. We almost forgot to mention it. Johnny's REAL LAST WORDS were: "and that quote is not to be confused with Bart Simpson's famous, "Can't sleep, clowns will eat me". But we're pretty sure he didn't want that on a t-shirt. Johnny would have known that stealing a quote from an established sitcom could turn into some risky copyright law issues.

The Stones Are Clones

Normally, we create a new design (that has been market-tested, I assure you) based on the recommendations of our intrepid scientificologists. Last night, though, our founder and grand pooba (if you could call him that) had a dream. A dream that he felt he had to share with the masses. He woke up laughing to himself, positive he had the next big hit on his hands. Instead, though, the rigorous testing of our scientificologists discovered that there was nothing even remotely funny or even marketable about his dream.

For some reason, the grand pooba thought it would be funny if we wrote "The Stones Are Clones" on t-shirts and sold them. Our scientificological team told him that he had too many cheese doodles before the Superbowl halftime show. Then they went deep into their labs and scoured the Internet for a way to find out the opinions of our learned subscribers and the amazingly intelligent being who happens upon our blog through the random power of "naked girls" searches on google (not to mention big naked breasts---now this e-mail is sure to be stopped by every spam-guard this side of the Mississippi).

So, we turn over the power to you, the reader. Should we make the "Stones Are Clones" shirts or should we just leave you with the regular sale item of the week, "Auntie and Uncle Love me," the perfect gift for the niece or nephew in your life (don't bother buying it for my nephews, I already took care of that)?

Mood: Oddly happy considering what I'm listening to | Playing: A new Dolly Parton song

Considering how much we at 52tease.com like to "geek out" it is amazing how paltry the geek section of our website has become. Rather than go with the standard joke (we were going to do a Superbowl shirt that says: "at least the cheese dip and commercials were good") we thought it apropos to attack this thing called "The Web 2.0". If you haven't yet heard about the second generation of the Internet, prepare to be educated. If you already know exactly what I'm talking about when I mention web 2.0, then you are probably 1337 enough to appreciate this weeks' design.

The web 2.0 is a paradigm shift that has caused quite a few ripples in the past few years among the Internet elite. Many people think that you have to program in AJAX for your website to be considered 2.0, but that is just a fallacy. (AJAX is a method by which a web page is able to reload only a small portion without refreshing the whole thing. It is AJAX that makes web sites like GMAIL and FLICKR so quick and responsive.)

The web 2.0 is basically a simple way to describe the new, interactive nature of the web. If you have ever contributed information to the most excellent experiment in tapping into the collective power of the communal brain, Wikipedia, than you are a member of the web 2.0 1337. (what is 1337 you may be asking yourself? Well that is an elite geek's way to say they are "elite" - the 1 stands for "L", the two 3's stand in for "E's" and the 7 is a numerical equivalent of an "T".) Other web 2.0 sites you may use and not be aware of include the Yahoo, Google, or MSN start pages (no one else has one like yours), the bookmarking tools at del.icio.us, or even our own printer, cafepress.com.

You may remember, back when the web was still just a baby (and we happily referred to it as the World Wide Web and not just "The Internet"), that pages you would visit would be just that, pages. It wasn't much different from heading to the library to pick up a book.

Nowadays, pages aren't just static objects to be observed. They have become interactive sites we can adjust, modify and just have a lot of fun with. (At this point, I should mention that the term web 2.0 is itself contentious, hence the mocking nature of the design for this week. Many people who have been involved with web development don't think that the new interactivity is enough to warrant a new name for the Internet.) This blog could be considered an example of web 2.0 as you are able to--no, encouraged to leave comments after reading what I've written here.

Web 2.0, even if it is not a true platform switch, is an important and necessary evolution of the Internet. It allows the web to become the more open, free publishing platform that we all envisioned back when we were wearing flannel t-shirts and just emerging from the grunge era into a new, more technologically based, society. (imagine telling someone to "Ask Mr. Internet" back in the early nineties. Most people wouldn't have known what you were talking about.) This is the type of technologically-based public discourse that we can really get behind (hell, without the web 2.0, there would be no 52tease.com).

Before we get to the goodies (and no, we aren't talking about the women's underwear you can find below. Geeze...you have a sick mind, don't you? Do people ever tell you that? That you are obsessed with sex and women's underwear? [yes...panties...does that word offend you?]

Back to what we were saying. Before we get to your dirty little secret of which we will never speak again (panty lover!), we would like to point your attention to the brand-new banner at the top of this little rant (about how naughty you are...) We're trying out a new, shotgun approach to front-page marketing (have you checked out the new 52tease t-shirts website recently?) and want to know what you think.

Well, now that we've covered that and completely covered for your scary little fetish, we would love to share with you our design of the week.

(We didn't realize that this design looked so much like a David and Delilah [is that the name of the designer that makes lots of "little girl" and "little boy" designs that appeal to the young and old?] until we just saw it in this blog post...whoops! Too bad D&D, we like this one and we'll fight to keep it from your greedy little hands.

Well, anyway...this week's design comes straight from the mouths of babes. Seriously, you should have seen the babe at the bar whose mouth this poured out of like golden nectar. Hey, just because I overheard her talking doesn't mean I was stalking her. It's not like I heard her say something about a recent sale at Macys or something about how Rick at work keeps talking to her about the couple in that NBC show "The Office" which she's never watched...well anyway, she's never watched the office and there's this couple on the show that wants to get together but the girl has a long time boyfriend (even though I-being "I", the babe-don't have a boyfriend) and she's engaged and stuff...as if I care about the stupid shows you watch on NBC...RICK...because he's, like, trying to get with me.

I wasn't stalking her. I just happened to hear a lot of their conversation while I hid behind the jukebox in the bar and stared at her intensely. I think her friend said some stuff, but I couldn't really tell because she was...well, she wasn't the babe.

So...and I know you can guess what the babe said. She said, get this, "Boys make me LAUGH when they try to think!" and I knew then that I was in lo...

...that I was in lo...ng distance of my t-shirt making machine and ever diligent scientificologists--

Man, we have just been family FUNderful these past few weeks. First, we debuted our I make the rules t-shirts last week and now we have a silly misspelled squirrel design for your delight.

We have to be completely honest with you (as that is the foundation of our entire business model, let me assure you)...we made this design originally as a custom request for a young lady in the Midwest. Although she really liked the design, the price of the black t-shirt (on the left) was a little too hefty for her. Hopefully you, unlike she, took advantage of our huge Christmas Sale last week to pick up a black shirt at value t-shirt prices. (if not, don't worry too much, X-ma$ does come every year)

In researching this design (as we do, meticulously, every week) we came across an amazing preponderance of anti-squirrel sites. If you want to learn how to hate our furry friend -we love the squirrels- you need to check out All Squirrels Must Die, Outwitting Squirrels, or (our personal favorite because they spell SKWERL funny like us; in a way we didn't even think of) Scary Squirrel.

Okay, so we've been on vacation for a while. But trust me, we have a bunch of awesome t-shirt designs that will (or may not, depending on your current state of dress) blow your socks off!

Although we found ourselves surging materials and ideas from the farthest reaches of the travelable world, we made sure to keep up with the current events of our home country, the good old USofA.

Sure, now you'd expect us to put out a shirt about the recent tragedies to strike the Southern states, especially southern Louisiana, but we figure that you should put your money toward a better cause than a t-shirt or funny bumper sticker. Instead, make a donation the red cross or another charitable organization you feel you can trust with your money.
Failing a good Katrina/New Orleans joke, I'm sure you would like to see nothing better than a shirt with some humorous remark depicting Roberts, who is currently up for the 'big seat' in the Supreme Court thanks to the death of his mentor, William Rehnquist, in some compromising position. Possibly with his mouth around a certain 'no-fly zone' of President Bush.

We could have done that, but it would have been too crass.

Instead, as you can tell by the graphics on the left and right of this text, we opted to discuss an issue that is affecting all Americans (and people throughout the entire industrialized world) and is near and dear to our pocket books. Can you believe the cost of gas these days?

The president, who refused to release our emergency reserves to curb the cost of gas, is doing just that in an effort to deflect criticism of FEMA's slow response to the disaster in New Orleans.

We have another, much simpler solution. Get the hell out of your oversized, compensatory tax-subsidized monstrosity of a vehicle and walk somewhere. Don't drive around for twenty minutes at the mall looking for a parking spot. Stop when you see one and walk the rest of the way. Not only will you be doing your part to help the American economy, you will also do a fair bit to decrease the oversized barrel you refer to as a waist-line.

I doubt that many of our readers are 'in bed' with the leaders of the oil producing countries (unlike the United States' current administration), but that doesn't mean we can't do something to bring down prices. Rather than call for an increase in supply, let's get together and create a reduction in demand that will bring a halt to the artificial inflation of gas prices.

Oh yeah. Buy a shirt while you're at it as well. We promise to put all of that money back into the economy in the form of heavily-taxed alcohol and we'll walk to the bar to boot!

Never Test Marketed - May 16-22

Look around your house and try to find a product you own that hasn’t been tested and re-tested with a target audience before making onto the store shelves and finally, into your home.

These shirts and stickers, like all products found at 52tease.com, have never been ‘field-tested’ or ‘run by the marketing guys’ (unless you consider some late-night brainstorming at the local a form of decision by group mandate) because we know that you want your life, news, and sometimes products to be as unrefined as possible.

To be fair, our shoe-string budget also doesn’t accommodate a staff of that magnitude, nor would we be willing to waste our money on a ‘test market’ as we find that some of our favorite things were never test marketed (home-produced music and artwork, astronaut ice-cream and fresh cut flowers on the dining room table).

My girlfriend doesn't agree, but I think Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) may have been onto something. How many people have turned to a 'life of crime' because they were lacking the necessary funds for something?

Now that I think about it, though, it isn't necessarily a lack of money that is the root of evil but the lack of enough money to satisfy the person.
